Hyundai Mobis wins order from Chrysler

SEOUL (AFP) – Hyundai Mobis said Wednesday it has won a two-billion-dollar order from US automaker Chrysler in what it called the largest-ever contract for a South Korean autoparts maker. The company, a subsidiary of the country's largest automaker Hyundai Motor, said in a statement it will provide Chrysler with front and rear chassis modules from May 2010.  The firm said it would build a new production line near a Chrysler plant in Michigan to supply the parts for Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango models. "This is an acknowledgement of Hyundai Mobis's technological edge. We will make best efforts to win contracts from other US carmakers," the statement said.
